October 7th represented a complete failure of the senior levels of the Israeli military and intelligence establishments. It was their darkest day. But incredibly Israel's citizens; its paramedics, police, individual soldiers, farmers, clerks, dj's and not a few grandparents, stepped into the gap and bought with their gallantry enough time for Israel's military to regroup and recover. They literally stepped into the gap and saved not only their families but the state of Israel. With, courage, skill, resilience , unflagging faith and self sacrifice, they saved themselves, their neighbors and their country. it was their finest hour.
