  • [congregation applauding]
  • 00:00:01.010 --> 00:00:07.140
  • Bobby Schuller: Friends, would you hold your hands out
  • 00:00:07.150 --> 00:00:09.120
  • like this as a sign of both giving and receiving?
  • 00:00:09.130 --> 00:00:10.280
  • And we're gonna say this creed together.
  • 00:00:10.290 --> 00:00:13.200
  • "I'm not what I do. I'm not what I have.
  • 00:00:13.210 --> 00:00:17.270
  • I'm not what people say about me.
  • 00:00:17.280 --> 00:00:20.210
  • I am the beloved of God. It's who I am.
  • 00:00:20.220 --> 00:00:25.120
  • No one can take it from me. I don't have to worry.
  • 00:00:25.130 --> 00:00:29.280
  • I don't have to hurry.
  • 00:00:29.290 --> 00:00:31.230
  • I can trust my friend Jesus and share his love with the world."
  • 00:00:31.240 --> 00:00:37.000
  • Thanks. You can be seated.
  • 00:00:37.010 --> 00:00:40.020
  • Well, today, we are continuing our conversation on faith.
  • 00:00:40.030 --> 00:00:44.260
  • Our series is called A Simple Guide To Walking On Water, and
  • 00:00:44.270 --> 00:00:49.180
  • I just know that whatever it is that you're facing in life,
  • 00:00:49.190 --> 00:00:54.030
  • you need faith.
  • 00:00:54.040 --> 00:00:55.250
  • Today, I want to talk about one, yeah, that you don't have to
  • 00:00:55.260 --> 00:01:00.150
  • worry, that things are gonna be okay and more than anything,
  • 00:01:00.160 --> 00:01:05.150
  • to not just settle for whatever you currently have but to dream
  • 00:01:05.160 --> 00:01:11.070
  • and to think bigger, that faith is not just praying for what
  • 00:01:11.080 --> 00:01:16.020
  • you need, it's praying for what you want.
  • 00:01:16.030 --> 00:01:18.280
  • Faith is saying that, "Maybe, maybe this is what I have
  • 00:01:18.290 --> 00:01:23.080
  • right now, but God has something bigger."
  • 00:01:23.090 --> 00:01:26.050
  • So, if you hear anything I say today it's this,
  • 00:01:26.060 --> 00:01:29.050
  • take a risk for God.
  • 00:01:29.060 --> 00:01:31.270
  • Take a risk for God.
  • 00:01:31.280 --> 00:01:36.030
  • So, today I want to encourage you to walk by faith and become
  • 00:01:36.040 --> 00:01:41.010
  • the kind of person whose vision is framed by what God wants,
  • 00:01:41.020 --> 00:01:46.220
  • that I'm gonna do things that are big enough to say,
  • 00:01:46.230 --> 00:01:49.200
  • "Only God could do something that awesome, that amazing.
  • 00:01:49.210 --> 00:01:53.210
  • I am going to take a risk for the Lord."
  • 00:01:53.220 --> 00:01:58.020
  • You know, very often when we get comfortable in life,
  • 00:01:58.030 --> 00:02:01.170
  • I am convinced God likes to take us to scary places.
  • 00:02:01.180 --> 00:02:07.140
  • God doesn't like us being all that comfortable.
  • 00:02:07.150 --> 00:02:12.130
  • He doesn't like it when we get stuck in the ruts.
  • 00:02:12.140 --> 00:02:15.280
  • When I was a kid, I had a big fear of water
  • 00:02:15.290 --> 00:02:19.220
  • and that's a problem growing up in the summer,
  • 00:02:19.230 --> 00:02:21.270
  • especially here in southern California.
  • 00:02:21.280 --> 00:02:24.100
  • And I remember once I was at the beach with my parents
  • 00:02:24.110 --> 00:02:26.220
  • and a couple of my friends and the waves were particularly big
  • 00:02:26.230 --> 00:02:30.010
  • that day, and I was maybe 8 or 9 years old.
  • 00:02:30.020 --> 00:02:34.020
  • I was still a kid but I saw all my other, you know, friends
  • 00:02:34.030 --> 00:02:37.130
  • going out in the water and they were swimming,
  • 00:02:37.140 --> 00:02:39.080
  • and they were having a good time, and they were getting
  • 00:02:39.090 --> 00:02:41.000
  • beat up by the waves.
  • 00:02:41.010 --> 00:02:42.260
  • And I was just sitting going, "Oh, that's interesting."
  • 00:02:42.270 --> 00:02:44.260
  • And my dad goes, "Go out there and play with them."
  • 00:02:44.270 --> 00:02:47.020
  • And I said, "Oh, that's, you know, I'm all right."
  • 00:02:47.030 --> 00:02:52.030
  • And my dad's like, "Well, they're having fun without you.
  • 00:02:52.040 --> 00:02:54.070
  • They're asking you to go out there.
  • 00:02:54.080 --> 00:02:55.270
  • Go out and play with them."
  • 00:02:55.280 --> 00:02:57.090
  • I'm like, "Dad, I'm fine."
  • 00:02:57.100 --> 00:02:58.230
  • He goes, "You're scared of those waves, aren't you?"
  • 00:02:58.240 --> 00:03:00.110
  • I was like, "I am not scared of those humungous waves."
  • 00:03:00.120 --> 00:03:05.080
  • And without a word, this makes my dad sound like
  • 00:03:06.140 --> 00:03:10.040
  • such a jerk, he's not.
  • 00:03:10.050 --> 00:03:11.250
  • He's a sweet guy.
  • 00:03:11.260 --> 00:03:13.090
  • Without a word, he was working out then too.
  • 00:03:13.100 --> 00:03:14.270
  • I want to say he was 36 and his biceps were like--
  • 00:03:14.280 --> 00:03:20.000
  • he reaches over and like just with one arm grabs me like this
  • 00:03:20.010 --> 00:03:24.010
  • and slowly which is torture, you know?
  • 00:03:24.020 --> 00:03:26.280
  • Like, as soon as he comes close, I try to get up to get away
  • 00:03:26.290 --> 00:03:30.000
  • 'cause I know what's gonna happen and just one slow arm
  • 00:03:30.010 --> 00:03:32.210
  • just takes me like this and starts walking towards
  • 00:03:32.220 --> 00:03:35.070
  • the water like, you know, Goliath or something.
  • 00:03:35.080 --> 00:03:39.000
  • And I'm going, "No God! No!"
  • 00:03:39.010 --> 00:03:42.050
  • Totally, like this is not exaggeration.
  • 00:03:42.060 --> 00:03:44.060
  • Full on screaming, clawing.
  • 00:03:44.070 --> 00:03:46.000
  • I'm trying to go for his eyes.
  • 00:03:46.010 --> 00:03:48.080
  • He's holding me like this and these waves, at the time,
  • 00:03:48.090 --> 00:03:51.230
  • I felt like they were 10 feet high.
  • 00:03:51.240 --> 00:03:53.230
  • They were probably a foot but anyway, he's taking me
  • 00:03:53.240 --> 00:03:55.260
  • into the water.
  • 00:03:55.270 --> 00:03:57.130
  • And he's like, "All right, here's what you gotta do.
  • 00:03:57.140 --> 00:03:59.070
  • Here comes a big one.
  • 00:03:59.080 --> 00:04:00.250
  • You gotta dip under water when it comes."
  • 00:04:00.260 --> 00:04:02.180
  • And I'm like, "No, please, no!"
  • 00:04:02.190 --> 00:04:04.200
  • And then the wave comes and he goes--just like, you know,
  • 00:04:04.210 --> 00:04:09.140
  • some kind of a superman like right into the wave,
  • 00:04:09.150 --> 00:04:12.090
  • and I just get nailed by this wave.
  • 00:04:12.100 --> 00:04:14.240
  • And he goes, "All right, are you okay?"
  • 00:04:14.250 --> 00:04:17.010
  • And I'm like, "No, I hate you."
  • 00:04:17.020 --> 00:04:19.090
  • And he goes, "Okay, here comes another one."
  • 00:04:19.100 --> 00:04:22.180
  • And this keeps happening over and over until finally he's
  • 00:04:22.190 --> 00:04:25.250
  • like, "Just watch, this is what you do," and he just walked me
  • 00:04:25.260 --> 00:04:28.260
  • through it and he stayed with me holding me with this big,
  • 00:04:28.270 --> 00:04:33.050
  • big arm, this big, you know, burly man.
  • 00:04:33.060 --> 00:04:36.130
  • And he just said, "We're gonna stay here
  • 00:04:36.140 --> 00:04:38.140
  • until you're not afraid of these waves anymore,"
  • 00:04:38.150 --> 00:04:40.230
  • and that's exactly what happened.
  • 00:04:40.240 --> 00:04:42.260
  • By the time we finished, I was not that afraid
  • 00:04:42.270 --> 00:04:46.030
  • of waves anymore, you know?
  • 00:04:46.040 --> 00:04:50.070
  • But it really, it helped.
  • 00:04:50.080 --> 00:04:52.210
  • And this is an analogy I think to what God
  • 00:04:52.220 --> 00:04:56.000
  • and his fatherliness.
  • 00:04:56.010 --> 00:04:58.100
  • It's important that we don't align a gender to God
  • 00:04:58.110 --> 00:05:01.090
  • because God's not a man, as the Scriptures teach us,
  • 00:05:01.100 --> 00:05:04.140
  • but there is definitely this fatherliness to God
  • 00:05:04.150 --> 00:05:08.200
  • where he will challenge, and push,
  • 00:05:08.210 --> 00:05:12.170
  • and bring us into places that we're not always
  • 00:05:12.180 --> 00:05:15.270
  • comfortable going so that we can grow.
  • 00:05:15.280 --> 00:05:21.180
  • There is something about a nagging fear, like a looming
  • 00:05:21.190 --> 00:05:26.100
  • fear that you never have to face that in its own way
  • 00:05:26.110 --> 00:05:30.240
  • is very painful, you know?
  • 00:05:30.250 --> 00:05:34.020
  • And so, I think that God does this.
  • 00:05:34.030 --> 00:05:36.200
  • And what I want to say to you is this,
  • 00:05:36.210 --> 00:05:39.020
  • maybe you're feeling dragged into the ocean.
  • 00:05:39.030 --> 00:05:41.270
  • Maybe you're feeling dragged into the waves but God is
  • 00:05:41.280 --> 00:05:45.000
  • teaching you how to be the kind of person to abide rough waters.
  • 00:05:45.010 --> 00:05:50.050
  • You don't feel strong enough now to endure
  • 00:05:50.060 --> 00:05:52.220
  • what you're going through, but you are.
  • 00:05:52.230 --> 00:05:54.280
  • God is showing you and proving to you that you don't have to be
  • 00:05:54.290 --> 00:05:58.170
  • afraid of waves, that you have everything you need
  • 00:05:58.180 --> 00:06:03.110
  • to endure the storm, you do.
  • 00:06:03.120 --> 00:06:05.180
  • You have it.
  • 00:06:05.190 --> 00:06:07.050
  • You have everything you need to endure the storm.
  • 00:06:07.060 --> 00:06:10.040
  • And God is not the kind of God that throws you into the ocean,
  • 00:06:10.050 --> 00:06:13.270
  • he walks in with you.
  • 00:06:13.280 --> 00:06:15.230
  • He carries you.
  • 00:06:15.240 --> 00:06:17.130
  • He makes sure that you feel those everlasting arms
  • 00:06:17.140 --> 00:06:20.240
  • when those waves are coming.
  • 00:06:20.250 --> 00:06:22.100
  • Do you feel 'em?
  • 00:06:22.110 --> 00:06:25.010
  • You know, it was not long after that and I was I think 10, so
  • 00:06:25.020 --> 00:06:29.270
  • maybe a couple of years later, we were in Hawaii on a family
  • 00:06:29.280 --> 00:06:32.180
  • vacation and we were gonna go surfing.
  • 00:06:32.190 --> 00:06:35.040
  • And I had to face the waves again and this time I was like,
  • 00:06:35.050 --> 00:06:39.050
  • "Okay dad, we're gonna do it."
  • 00:06:39.060 --> 00:06:41.010
  • We're in Honolulu, you know, it was just like
  • 00:06:41.020 --> 00:06:43.110
  • an episode out of "Gidget."
  • 00:06:43.120 --> 00:06:45.010
  • You know, it was just, is that right, "Gidget"?
  • 00:06:45.020 --> 00:06:48.050
  • Yeah, that's right.
  • 00:06:48.060 --> 00:06:51.090
  • Anyway, and I was Gidget. I was a wimp again.
  • 00:06:51.100 --> 00:06:57.230
  • And we went out into the water and again
  • 00:06:57.240 --> 00:07:01.010
  • here comes these waves.
  • 00:07:01.020 --> 00:07:02.220
  • And my dad's with me he says, "Okay, here comes the waves.
  • 00:07:02.230 --> 00:07:04.150
  • We're gonna teach ya how to surf."
  • 00:07:04.160 --> 00:07:06.000
  • And we'd done these things, go out with canoes where you paddle
  • 00:07:06.010 --> 00:07:09.110
  • the boat and the boat catches you,
  • 00:07:09.120 --> 00:07:11.040
  • and it's like you're surfing.
  • 00:07:11.050 --> 00:07:12.250
  • And he sort of taught me this to show me the principle
  • 00:07:12.260 --> 00:07:14.120
  • of surfing, and again I was just a coward.
  • 00:07:14.130 --> 00:07:16.210
  • You know, and I'm telling my dad, "I can't do this.
  • 00:07:16.220 --> 00:07:19.010
  • I can't do this."
  • 00:07:19.020 --> 00:07:20.200
  • He says, "You can do this. You can do this.
  • 00:07:20.210 --> 00:07:22.120
  • All you gotta do is paddle and stand up.
  • 00:07:22.130 --> 00:07:24.070
  • It's that easy."
  • 00:07:24.080 --> 00:07:25.280
  • He's like, "Look at that guy over there."
  • 00:07:25.290 --> 00:07:27.170
  • And I go, "He's a pro. He is a pro surfer.
  • 00:07:27.180 --> 00:07:31.010
  • He does this all the time."
  • 00:07:31.020 --> 00:07:32.190
  • And my dad goes, "Hey, hey guy!" This guy, "Yeah, what's up?"
  • 00:07:32.200 --> 00:07:37.110
  • He goes, "Are you a pro surfer?"
  • 00:07:37.120 --> 00:07:38.290
  • He goes, "No, man, I'm from Ohio."
  • 00:07:39.000 --> 00:07:42.270
  • So, finally again I learned to surf and I faced this fear.
  • 00:07:50.040 --> 00:07:55.190
  • And I come home, and I think I told you all this story before.
  • 00:07:55.200 --> 00:07:58.040
  • But I come home and my stepmom Donna says,
  • 00:07:58.050 --> 00:08:01.010
  • "How did it go today?
  • 00:08:01.020 --> 00:08:02.160
  • Did you learn how to surf?"
  • 00:08:02.170 --> 00:08:03.260
  • And I looked at her and I said, "I've changed."
  • 00:08:03.270 --> 00:08:07.160
  • You know, this was like this big fear
  • 00:08:09.020 --> 00:08:11.220
  • I'd finally conquered waves.
  • 00:08:11.230 --> 00:08:13.280
  • And I just want to say, you know, being a dad now and having
  • 00:08:13.290 --> 00:08:17.150
  • kids, I know why and I know God does these kinds
  • 00:08:17.160 --> 00:08:25.080
  • of things in our lives.
  • 00:08:25.090 --> 00:08:27.050
  • It's enough to make you angry sometimes to say,
  • 00:08:27.060 --> 00:08:29.200
  • "Why am I going through all of this?"
  • 00:08:29.210 --> 00:08:31.130
  • You know, I want to be careful.
  • 00:08:31.140 --> 00:08:33.020
  • Like if you're facing a sickness,
  • 00:08:33.030 --> 00:08:36.010
  • God didn't make you sick.
  • 00:08:36.020 --> 00:08:38.140
  • If you're facing abject poverty, God did not make you poor.
  • 00:08:38.150 --> 00:08:42.060
  • But I want to convince you that whatever challenge it is that
  • 00:08:42.070 --> 00:08:44.230
  • you're going through, God is not going to let you sink.
  • 00:08:44.240 --> 00:08:50.240
  • He's not going to leave you alone.
  • 00:08:50.250 --> 00:08:52.100
  • And not only is he going to be with you as you get out,
  • 00:08:52.110 --> 00:08:55.230
  • he's gonna show you that you're just the kind of person
  • 00:08:55.240 --> 00:08:58.080
  • that can get through this.
  • 00:08:58.090 --> 00:09:00.090
  • I remember we were recently with our son Cohen with some friends
  • 00:09:00.100 --> 00:09:05.240
  • in the central valley and we were looking at this koi pond.
  • 00:09:05.250 --> 00:09:09.290
  • And out of nowhere, we're like looking at this koi fish.
  • 00:09:10.000 --> 00:09:12.230
  • The water's about 6 feet deep.
  • 00:09:12.240 --> 00:09:14.040
  • My son just runs and jumps full on into the koi pond.
  • 00:09:14.050 --> 00:09:19.250
  • And I don't know what he was thinking.
  • 00:09:19.260 --> 00:09:21.290
  • He was about, he's 4 years old and instantly he looked shock
  • 00:09:22.000 --> 00:09:26.030
  • because he fell into the water and it was just like--
  • 00:09:26.040 --> 00:09:28.020
  • and he was totally under the water just floating like
  • 00:09:28.030 --> 00:09:33.120
  • kind of like-- and all of us were
  • 00:09:33.130 --> 00:09:35.240
  • stunned like, what just happened?
  • 00:09:35.250 --> 00:09:37.110
  • He jumped into this murky water.
  • 00:09:37.120 --> 00:09:39.050
  • I felt terrible for our hosts who were like,
  • 00:09:39.060 --> 00:09:41.090
  • "Oh no, what happened?"
  • 00:09:41.100 --> 00:09:42.280
  • I reached in without even thinking and I pulled him out.
  • 00:09:42.290 --> 00:09:46.040
  • I'd never let my son sink, right?
  • 00:09:46.050 --> 00:09:48.020
  • God's not gonna let you sink. Can I just say that?
  • 00:09:48.030 --> 00:09:53.050
  • It doesn't matter how stupid you've been.
  • 00:09:53.060 --> 00:09:59.250
  • See, we think, "This is all my fault.
  • 00:09:59.260 --> 00:10:04.050
  • This is all my fault."
  • 00:10:04.060 --> 00:10:06.260
  • It might be, it probably is, but that's the great thing
  • 00:10:06.270 --> 00:10:11.240
  • about the God we serve.
  • 00:10:11.250 --> 00:10:13.040
  • God is not a retributive. Is that a word?
  • 00:10:13.050 --> 00:10:16.250
  • Is that a word, retributive?
  • 00:10:16.260 --> 00:10:19.160
  • But I'm not saying it right, retributive.
  • 00:10:19.170 --> 00:10:23.140
  • God doesn't believe in retribution.
  • 00:10:23.150 --> 00:10:28.000
  • No, listen, God's not gonna let you sink whatever
  • 00:10:29.020 --> 00:10:31.230
  • it is you're going through, he's not.
  • 00:10:31.240 --> 00:10:35.140
  • It doesn't matter how dumb you've been,
  • 00:10:35.150 --> 00:10:37.150
  • all the mistakes you've made.
  • 00:10:37.160 --> 00:10:39.070
  • If you say, "Help me, Lord," he's gonna help you.
  • 00:10:39.080 --> 00:10:41.030
  • He's your dad. He loves you.
  • 00:10:41.040 --> 00:10:42.280
  • Live by faith. He's on your side.
  • 00:10:42.290 --> 00:10:45.030
  • Don't worry, it'll be okay.
  • 00:10:45.040 --> 00:10:48.020
  • The Scripture reading today was a famous one about actually
  • 00:10:48.030 --> 00:10:50.260
  • walking on water and it was the passage about Peter
  • 00:10:50.270 --> 00:10:55.000
  • walking on water.
  • 00:10:55.010 --> 00:10:56.240
  • And if you've been to this church at all, you know
  • 00:10:56.250 --> 00:11:00.180
  • this that in Judaism, especially in the 1st century,
  • 00:11:00.190 --> 00:11:02.260
  • when Jesus said, "Follow me,"
  • 00:11:02.270 --> 00:11:04.210
  • to follow a rabbi didn't mean to just go where the rabbi goes,
  • 00:11:04.220 --> 00:11:07.110
  • it meant to do what the rabbi does.
  • 00:11:07.120 --> 00:11:09.010
  • If you were called to be a disciple of a rabbi,
  • 00:11:09.020 --> 00:11:12.160
  • you were being trained to be a rabbi yourself.
  • 00:11:12.170 --> 00:11:15.200
  • You can actually see this today in Orthodox Judaism.
  • 00:11:15.210 --> 00:11:17.200
  • If you go to Jerusalem, you will actually see an older rabbi
  • 00:11:17.210 --> 00:11:21.070
  • and a bunch of younger boys in their teens
  • 00:11:21.080 --> 00:11:25.080
  • following behind him doing everything that he does.
  • 00:11:25.090 --> 00:11:28.280
  • And in Jesus' day, to follow a rabbi meant to do
  • 00:11:28.290 --> 00:11:33.010
  • everything the rabbi does.
  • 00:11:33.020 --> 00:11:35.020
  • So, if the rabbi writes left-handed,
  • 00:11:35.030 --> 00:11:37.040
  • you need to learn to write left-handed.
  • 00:11:37.050 --> 00:11:38.270
  • If the rabbi tells jokes, you need to start telling jokes.
  • 00:11:38.280 --> 00:11:42.070
  • They would literally like if there would be footprints
  • 00:11:42.080 --> 00:11:44.280
  • in the sand, they would step sometimes
  • 00:11:44.290 --> 00:11:48.010
  • in the actual footprints of their rabbi.
  • 00:11:48.020 --> 00:11:50.140
  • So, they were trying to become clones of the rabbi
  • 00:11:50.150 --> 00:11:53.250
  • that they were following.
  • 00:11:53.260 --> 00:11:55.260
  • So, they begin to do, through the story,
  • 00:11:55.270 --> 00:11:58.040
  • all these amazing things.
  • 00:11:58.050 --> 00:11:59.280
  • Well, this story of Peter walking on water is just that,
  • 00:11:59.290 --> 00:12:03.000
  • it's Peter responding to the idea that disciples are supposed
  • 00:12:03.010 --> 00:12:10.010
  • to do what rabbis do.
  • 00:12:10.020 --> 00:12:12.130
  • So, it was after the feeding of the 5.000, this famous story,
  • 00:12:12.140 --> 00:12:15.270
  • Jesus says, "I'm gonna dismiss everything now that
  • 00:12:15.280 --> 00:12:18.080
  • they've eaten, and I want you to go out on the boat
  • 00:12:18.090 --> 00:12:20.070
  • and I'll meet you out there."
  • 00:12:20.080 --> 00:12:21.290
  • I don't know if he says that, but that's certainly
  • 00:12:22.000 --> 00:12:23.250
  • what's gonna happen.
  • 00:12:23.260 --> 00:12:25.210
  • So, they go out on the boat.
  • 00:12:25.220 --> 00:12:27.190
  • Jesus dismisses everyone and he goes
  • 00:12:27.200 --> 00:12:29.080
  • up on the mountain to pray.
  • 00:12:29.090 --> 00:12:31.020
  • Now it's nighttime and the wind is blowing.
  • 00:12:31.030 --> 00:12:32.220
  • It's so important to understand what water means for Jews
  • 00:12:32.230 --> 00:12:35.020
  • in the 1st century too.
  • 00:12:35.030 --> 00:12:36.200
  • For many people back then, there's a mystic quality to
  • 00:12:36.210 --> 00:12:40.240
  • water because wherever you find water, you find life
  • 00:12:40.250 --> 00:12:46.070
  • but there's also a scary thing about water.
  • 00:12:46.080 --> 00:12:48.070
  • When there were big bodies of water, they believed, some,
  • 00:12:48.080 --> 00:12:52.010
  • that it was actually a gateway to hell.
  • 00:12:52.020 --> 00:12:54.070
  • In fact, many people back then not only couldn't swim,
  • 00:12:54.080 --> 00:12:57.210
  • but didn't swim because they were afraid of the Leviathan,
  • 00:12:57.220 --> 00:13:01.240
  • which was essentially like the Loch Ness Monster.
  • 00:13:01.250 --> 00:13:04.050
  • We'll just shoot straight, okay, that there is some kind of
  • 00:13:04.060 --> 00:13:06.150
  • Loch Ness Monster in the Sea of Galilee and that
  • 00:13:06.160 --> 00:13:09.200
  • when this sort of monster, demon thing gets angry,
  • 00:13:09.210 --> 00:13:13.230
  • starts to swirl up weather and the water.
  • 00:13:13.240 --> 00:13:17.030
  • So, there's this big looming fear.
  • 00:13:17.040 --> 00:13:19.130
  • It's very likely most of these guys, I know it seems crazy
  • 00:13:19.140 --> 00:13:22.030
  • because they're fishermen, there's a good chance
  • 00:13:22.040 --> 00:13:24.050
  • that they couldn't swim.
  • 00:13:24.060 --> 00:13:25.150
  • In fact, I'm willing to bet they couldn't swim and there was
  • 00:13:25.160 --> 00:13:27.260
  • a spiritual dimension that they believed that this big body
  • 00:13:27.270 --> 00:13:30.170
  • of water was a gateway to hell.
  • 00:13:30.180 --> 00:13:32.130
  • And so, they're out on the boat and Jesus is up on the hill
  • 00:13:32.140 --> 00:13:38.130
  • and the storm starts swirling and the wind starts blowing.
  • 00:13:38.140 --> 00:13:42.130
  • And it says they're not able to get back to shore.
  • 00:13:42.140 --> 00:13:44.090
  • They're trying to get back but the wind is pushing
  • 00:13:44.100 --> 00:13:46.050
  • their boat away from the shore.
  • 00:13:46.060 --> 00:13:48.160
  • It's nighttime.
  • 00:13:48.170 --> 00:13:49.260
  • So, they're already freaked out, right?
  • 00:13:49.270 --> 00:13:52.030
  • And all of a sudden, here comes Jesus on the water walking
  • 00:13:52.040 --> 00:13:57.070
  • and they see him and at first they get totally terrified.
  • 00:13:57.080 --> 00:14:01.170
  • They think it's a ghost, or a spirit, or something.
  • 00:14:01.180 --> 00:14:03.210
  • They're about to lose their minds and Jesus says,
  • 00:14:03.220 --> 00:14:06.200
  • "Oh, it's me, guys, hey.
  • 00:14:06.210 --> 00:14:08.060
  • I'm just walking on water."
  • 00:14:08.070 --> 00:14:10.070
  • So, they see this miracle.
  • 00:14:12.050 --> 00:14:13.180
  • They see Jesus in one of his most famous miracles
  • 00:14:13.190 --> 00:14:16.120
  • walking on water.
  • 00:14:16.130 --> 00:14:18.050
  • They all see it, they all write about it.
  • 00:14:18.060 --> 00:14:21.140
  • And in a way the more amazing thing happens, Peter says
  • 00:14:21.150 --> 00:14:25.230
  • to Jesus, "Lord, ask me to come out to you and I will."
  • 00:14:25.240 --> 00:14:32.020
  • And Jesus says, "Come."
  • 00:14:32.030 --> 00:14:33.290
  • Now, here's the amazing thing, Peter gets out of the boat
  • 00:14:34.000 --> 00:14:39.090
  • and he begins to walk on water to Jesus one step at a time.
  • 00:14:39.100 --> 00:14:45.000
  • It's dark. The wind is blowing.
  • 00:14:45.010 --> 00:14:47.030
  • The rain is coming down.
  • 00:14:47.040 --> 00:14:48.140
  • His friends behind him are watching.
  • 00:14:48.150 --> 00:14:49.280
  • What would it feel like, by the way, to get out
  • 00:14:49.290 --> 00:14:52.110
  • and start walking on water towards Jesus?
  • 00:14:52.120 --> 00:14:54.150
  • I wonder.
  • 00:14:54.160 --> 00:14:56.140
  • And so, he's walking and he begins to doubt, and he begins
  • 00:14:56.150 --> 00:15:01.090
  • to get afraid, and he takes his eyes off of Christ and he begins
  • 00:15:01.100 --> 00:15:04.020
  • to put them on the waves and he begins to sink.
  • 00:15:04.030 --> 00:15:05.260
  • And now picture him sinking slowly like he's sinking into
  • 00:15:05.270 --> 00:15:08.220
  • Jell-O instead of water, I don't know.
  • 00:15:08.230 --> 00:15:11.040
  • And the story says that Jesus reaches down and grabs him
  • 00:15:11.050 --> 00:15:14.290
  • and the Scripture says, Jesus says to him, "Why did you doubt?
  • 00:15:15.000 --> 00:15:19.240
  • Why did you doubt?"
  • 00:15:19.250 --> 00:15:21.040
  • Do you know what he means there when he's saying,
  • 00:15:21.050 --> 00:15:22.140
  • "Why did you doubt?"
  • 00:15:22.150 --> 00:15:24.070
  • He's saying, "Why did you doubt that you could do
  • 00:15:24.080 --> 00:15:27.060
  • what I would do?"
  • 00:15:27.070 --> 00:15:29.100
  • That's exactly right.
  • 00:15:29.110 --> 00:15:32.020
  • Everybody that studies the Scriptures,
  • 00:15:32.030 --> 00:15:34.110
  • this reads the Scriptures, this is the right way
  • 00:15:34.120 --> 00:15:36.100
  • to read this text, not, you know, why did you doubt?
  • 00:15:36.110 --> 00:15:39.240
  • It's, "Why did you doubt that you could walk on water
  • 00:15:39.250 --> 00:15:44.130
  • just like me?
  • 00:15:44.140 --> 00:15:46.110
  • I've called you. I said come.
  • 00:15:46.120 --> 00:15:47.290
  • If I ask you to do something, I'm gonna give you everything
  • 00:15:48.000 --> 00:15:52.170
  • you need to accomplish it, even if it means walking on water."
  • 00:15:52.180 --> 00:15:57.100
  • So, why do you doubt? Why do you doubt?
  • 00:15:57.110 --> 00:16:00.130
  • I grow very concerned that it seems like the more religious
  • 00:16:00.140 --> 00:16:03.280
  • somebody is, the less risk they like to take.
  • 00:16:03.290 --> 00:16:08.010
  • That does not make any sense to me.
  • 00:16:08.020 --> 00:16:10.170
  • I find that when Jesus makes people religious, when Jesus
  • 00:16:10.180 --> 00:16:15.220
  • makes people follow him, he is constantly challenging them to
  • 00:16:15.230 --> 00:16:19.120
  • do things that are even terrifying like get out and walk
  • 00:16:19.130 --> 00:16:24.110
  • on water even though you think water is a window to hell
  • 00:16:24.120 --> 00:16:27.270
  • and you can't swim.
  • 00:16:27.280 --> 00:16:29.280
  • Lord, save me. Faith is trusting God.
  • 00:16:31.040 --> 00:16:35.280
  • You have faith in stuff all the time.
  • 00:16:35.290 --> 00:16:39.210
  • Most of you, if not all of you, had faith in that pew
  • 00:16:39.220 --> 00:16:42.220
  • when you sat down on it, right?
  • 00:16:42.230 --> 00:16:44.240
  • You weren't afraid that the pew was gonna break
  • 00:16:44.250 --> 00:16:47.200
  • but sometimes pews break, right?
  • 00:16:47.210 --> 00:16:49.230
  • Maybe you had an extra slice of apple pie last night
  • 00:16:49.240 --> 00:16:52.050
  • and you know?
  • 00:16:52.060 --> 00:16:54.020
  • Listen, chairs break but most people don't look at a chair
  • 00:16:54.030 --> 00:16:58.090
  • before they sit in it.
  • 00:16:58.100 --> 00:17:01.100
  • When you get to a red light or a green light, you have faith that
  • 00:17:01.110 --> 00:17:05.020
  • somebody's not gonna run the other light and hit you but
  • 00:17:05.030 --> 00:17:08.130
  • sometimes chairs break and sometimes people run lights
  • 00:17:08.140 --> 00:17:13.120
  • and when that happens, it is hard sometimes to get the faith
  • 00:17:13.130 --> 00:17:16.220
  • back that you need to drive safely
  • 00:17:16.230 --> 00:17:19.020
  • and sit safely but in the end,
  • 00:17:19.030 --> 00:17:21.150
  • you know it's the right thing to do.
  • 00:17:21.160 --> 00:17:23.200
  • You need faith to get to your next milestone.
  • 00:17:23.210 --> 00:17:26.250
  • You need it.
  • 00:17:26.260 --> 00:17:28.050
  • You can't be the kind of person God has called you
  • 00:17:28.060 --> 00:17:31.120
  • to be without having faith.
  • 00:17:31.130 --> 00:17:34.180
  • I forget who said this but something like stop tip-toeing
  • 00:17:34.190 --> 00:17:38.270
  • through life only to arrive safely at death, okay?
  • 00:17:38.280 --> 00:17:43.280
  • We try and be safe but we're all gonna die.
  • 00:17:46.140 --> 00:17:48.220
  • I mean, something is gonna happen to all of us but when
  • 00:17:48.230 --> 00:17:52.060
  • we get to heaven, we want to have an account
  • 00:17:52.070 --> 00:17:55.110
  • that the life we lived mattered.
  • 00:17:55.120 --> 00:17:57.180
  • And I just want to say to you, faith pleases God.
  • 00:17:57.190 --> 00:18:02.100
  • God is able to factor for dumb moves.
  • 00:18:02.110 --> 00:18:06.010
  • If you take a risk and it was dumb,
  • 00:18:06.020 --> 00:18:09.050
  • God still factors for that.
  • 00:18:09.060 --> 00:18:10.150
  • I feel like he just covers for that.
  • 00:18:10.160 --> 00:18:13.090
  • I think he would rather you be dumb and risky than safe
  • 00:18:13.100 --> 00:18:18.210
  • and not risky and smart.
  • 00:18:18.220 --> 00:18:20.130
  • I actually believe that.
  • 00:18:20.140 --> 00:18:23.290
  • Look, I believe in wisdom, I absolutely do,
  • 00:18:25.110 --> 00:18:28.140
  • but I also believe in faith.
  • 00:18:28.150 --> 00:18:32.210
  • Jesus says something, "Father, I'm--
  • 00:18:32.220 --> 00:18:36.270
  • praise be to you that you haven't revealed these things
  • 00:18:36.280 --> 00:18:39.070
  • to the wise and the learned,
  • 00:18:39.080 --> 00:18:41.000
  • but you revealed them to little children."
  • 00:18:41.010 --> 00:18:43.150
  • There's something about how we always feel like we need to do
  • 00:18:43.160 --> 00:18:45.280
  • it on our own strength, our own wisdom, our own smarts.
  • 00:18:45.290 --> 00:18:50.020
  • Sometimes God's just telling you to just go, "Just do something.
  • 00:18:50.030 --> 00:18:55.110
  • Take a risk for me."
  • 00:18:55.120 --> 00:18:57.130
  • And I think even if it wasn't the smartest thing, I still
  • 00:18:57.140 --> 00:18:59.280
  • think God's gonna factor and he's gonna get you through it
  • 00:18:59.290 --> 00:19:02.040
  • and you're gonna learn from it so take a risk.
  • 00:19:02.050 --> 00:19:05.050
  • Recently we went to Holland with my sister Brittany
  • 00:19:05.060 --> 00:19:07.280
  • and this is a perfect story.
  • 00:19:07.290 --> 00:19:09.260
  • My sister Brittany is terrified of flying, terrified.
  • 00:19:09.270 --> 00:19:14.000
  • And in fact, it had been years and years since she'd been
  • 00:19:14.010 --> 00:19:18.070
  • on a plane, and she'd never been to Europe.
  • 00:19:18.080 --> 00:19:20.080
  • And I invited her to go with us on our Holland tour and finally
  • 00:19:20.090 --> 00:19:22.240
  • she had to face the music.
  • 00:19:22.250 --> 00:19:24.250
  • So, she got her tickets, she got her passport and she said for
  • 00:19:24.260 --> 00:19:27.080
  • like days before the flight, she couldn't sleep but she decided,
  • 00:19:27.090 --> 00:19:31.150
  • "I'm gonna get on that plane and I don't care if I scream,
  • 00:19:31.160 --> 00:19:34.250
  • if I pass out."
  • 00:19:34.260 --> 00:19:36.170
  • She had a couple glasses of wine.
  • 00:19:36.180 --> 00:19:38.280
  • She didn't lie before she took off, but she got on that plane.
  • 00:19:38.290 --> 00:19:43.170
  • She got on that plane, and she got to Holland,
  • 00:19:43.180 --> 00:19:45.200
  • and she saw old windmills, and she ate Gouda cheese
  • 00:19:45.210 --> 00:19:49.010
  • and stroopwafels and saw all these handsome
  • 00:19:49.020 --> 00:19:51.230
  • blond men that were taller than 6'5.
  • 00:19:51.240 --> 00:19:54.020
  • And listen, this is a perfect analogy for all of us.
  • 00:19:54.030 --> 00:19:59.140
  • I'm so proud of my sister because so much
  • 00:19:59.150 --> 00:20:01.190
  • of the human experience is do things like that.
  • 00:20:01.200 --> 00:20:04.170
  • Many of you, you're afraid to go to rehab.
  • 00:20:04.180 --> 00:20:09.090
  • Some of you, you're afraid to start dating again.
  • 00:20:09.100 --> 00:20:13.030
  • Some of you, you're so embarrassed about your divorce.
  • 00:20:13.040 --> 00:20:16.170
  • Some of you, this is maybe your first time back in church or
  • 00:20:16.180 --> 00:20:19.120
  • maybe you're watching on TV and you were so hurt by religion
  • 00:20:19.130 --> 00:20:23.000
  • you think, "I can never be plugged into a church again."
  • 00:20:23.010 --> 00:20:25.220
  • Take a risk. Take a risk.
  • 00:20:25.230 --> 00:20:29.020
  • Some of you have been wearing a mask for a long time
  • 00:20:29.030 --> 00:20:32.110
  • and pretending to be somebody that you're not.
  • 00:20:32.120 --> 00:20:34.240
  • I want to encourage you to be authentic, be genuine,
  • 00:20:34.250 --> 00:20:39.120
  • take a risk in faith and watch as you become
  • 00:20:39.130 --> 00:20:42.290
  • a happier, fuller person.
  • 00:20:43.000 --> 00:20:45.030
  • I just want to finish with this.
  • 00:20:45.040 --> 00:20:46.130
  • I've been talking a lot about surfing and I actually had a
  • 00:20:46.140 --> 00:20:49.240
  • rough day a couple of weeks ago.
  • 00:20:49.250 --> 00:20:52.000
  • And it was just hard and so I felt like the Lord called me
  • 00:20:52.010 --> 00:20:56.080
  • to the ocean so I went to the ocean and it was,
  • 00:20:56.090 --> 00:21:00.180
  • you know, getting darker.
  • 00:21:00.190 --> 00:21:01.280
  • It was twilight and there were these waves.
  • 00:21:01.290 --> 00:21:06.040
  • And I put on some gym shorts 'cause I didn't have swim trunks
  • 00:21:06.050 --> 00:21:09.170
  • and I just went out in the water to swim.
  • 00:21:09.180 --> 00:21:12.110
  • And the water was warm for California, still cool,
  • 00:21:12.120 --> 00:21:15.070
  • but I began to just pray.
  • 00:21:15.080 --> 00:21:17.260
  • And I was sort of swimming out in the water
  • 00:21:17.270 --> 00:21:20.210
  • and I was remembering as a teenager in college,
  • 00:21:20.220 --> 00:21:23.090
  • all the times I went surfing and all the fun I'd had.
  • 00:21:23.100 --> 00:21:26.230
  • And I'd began to, you know, began to body surf.
  • 00:21:26.240 --> 00:21:31.150
  • I did lose my trunks one time.
  • 00:21:31.160 --> 00:21:32.290
  • It was okay, I just put them right back on.
  • 00:21:33.000 --> 00:21:36.250
  • But I remember just floating out there in the water and I
  • 00:21:36.260 --> 00:21:40.070
  • remember thinking about God's grace and that living
  • 00:21:40.080 --> 00:21:44.190
  • through life is a lot like surfing on grace.
  • 00:21:44.200 --> 00:21:49.120
  • You know, grace doesn't mean mercy.
  • 00:21:49.130 --> 00:21:52.140
  • You know that, right?
  • 00:21:52.150 --> 00:21:54.070
  • Grace doesn't mean mercy.
  • 00:21:54.080 --> 00:21:56.210
  • Grace means an overflow of God's favor, power, and love.
  • 00:21:56.220 --> 00:22:02.260
  • It's so--we've limited it to this thing like,
  • 00:22:02.270 --> 00:22:04.260
  • oh, grace means forgiveness.
  • 00:22:04.270 --> 00:22:06.130
  • It's so much more than that.
  • 00:22:06.140 --> 00:22:08.270
  • Jesus received grace when he was baptized,
  • 00:22:08.280 --> 00:22:10.290
  • not for the forgiveness of sins,
  • 00:22:11.000 --> 00:22:12.290
  • but for the empowerment to do what God had called him to do,
  • 00:22:13.000 --> 00:22:16.270
  • do what the Father had called him to do.
  • 00:22:16.280 --> 00:22:18.080
  • Jesus was God.
  • 00:22:18.090 --> 00:22:20.200
  • And so, many of us living life is like surfing on grace.
  • 00:22:20.210 --> 00:22:25.210
  • When surfers are out on the water, they're always looking
  • 00:22:25.220 --> 00:22:28.180
  • for a wave, you know, and they're always looking
  • 00:22:28.190 --> 00:22:30.100
  • for a big wave.
  • 00:22:30.110 --> 00:22:32.030
  • And you miss it all the time.
  • 00:22:32.040 --> 00:22:33.290
  • Sometimes you're too far out or sometimes you're too far in
  • 00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:37.150
  • but there's always another wave.
  • 00:22:37.160 --> 00:22:38.250
  • And sometimes you wipe out but that just means
  • 00:22:38.260 --> 00:22:42.120
  • you weren't ready.
  • 00:22:42.130 --> 00:22:43.260
  • You didn't go fast enough or you're not trained enough.
  • 00:22:43.270 --> 00:22:47.070
  • But most importantly, the thing you learn when you're surfing is
  • 00:22:47.080 --> 00:22:49.270
  • that even if there aren't waves, you're still enjoying it because
  • 00:22:49.280 --> 00:22:53.080
  • there's something about the gentle rhythm of waves coming in
  • 00:22:53.090 --> 00:22:55.290
  • and out that lifts you and drops you, the company of people,
  • 00:22:56.000 --> 00:22:59.120
  • the refreshing nature of water itself.
  • 00:22:59.130 --> 00:23:03.190
  • And so, many of you, you're in life
  • 00:23:03.200 --> 00:23:05.260
  • and you've completely wiped out.
  • 00:23:05.270 --> 00:23:08.020
  • And I just want to say to you, it's okay.
  • 00:23:08.030 --> 00:23:11.120
  • Another wave is coming and know that even as you're just sort of
  • 00:23:11.130 --> 00:23:15.080
  • sitting and resting on the water that grace is sustaining you,
  • 00:23:15.090 --> 00:23:19.100
  • grace is holding you, that whether or not you're surfing
  • 00:23:19.110 --> 00:23:22.270
  • or not, this is this, like water, this sustaining nature
  • 00:23:22.280 --> 00:23:28.010
  • that no matter where you are, you are not alone.
  • 00:23:28.020 --> 00:23:30.030
  • God is holding you and it will be okay.
  • 00:23:30.040 --> 00:23:35.050
  • Some of you have failed miserably recently in some area
  • 00:23:35.060 --> 00:23:39.050
  • of your life and I just want to say to you,
  • 00:23:39.060 --> 00:23:43.060
  • just because you fail doesn't mean you're a failure.
  • 00:23:43.070 --> 00:23:46.130
  • It just means you haven't succeeded yet.
  • 00:23:46.140 --> 00:23:50.170
  • It's gonna be okay and I want to encourage you
  • 00:23:50.180 --> 00:23:53.250
  • to become the kind of person that lives in faith,
  • 00:23:53.260 --> 00:23:57.070
  • that never quits and never gives up.
  • 00:23:57.080 --> 00:24:01.060
  • God is calling you to do great things for him so be vulnerable,
  • 00:24:01.070 --> 00:24:05.170
  • take a risk, and be the kind of person that God
  • 00:24:05.180 --> 00:24:08.260
  • has called you to be.
  • 00:24:08.270 --> 00:24:10.060
  • In Jesus' name, amen.
  • 00:24:10.070 --> 00:24:13.200
  • Bobby: Here's another letter that we got,
  • 00:24:14.020 --> 00:24:15.120
  • thanks to your support.
  • 00:24:15.130 --> 00:24:18.080
  • female: Dear Bobby, at 19 my life collapsed.
  • 00:24:18.090 --> 00:24:21.230
  • I was in an unhealthy relationship with an older man
  • 00:24:21.240 --> 00:24:24.080
  • and then my father died from cancer.
  • 00:24:24.090 --> 00:24:26.250
  • They were my darkest days.
  • 00:24:26.260 --> 00:24:28.250
  • I felt paralyzed and apathetic.
  • 00:24:28.260 --> 00:24:31.140
  • When I was at my lowest, my boyfriend started to use me.
  • 00:24:31.150 --> 00:24:34.270
  • He complained about me and in the name of spicing up
  • 00:24:34.280 --> 00:24:37.070
  • our relationship, he pressed me to be intimate
  • 00:24:37.080 --> 00:24:39.120
  • with other men.
  • 00:24:39.130 --> 00:24:41.160
  • I felt numb and worthless.
  • 00:24:41.170 --> 00:24:44.050
  • Even as I write this, I feel that shame
  • 00:24:44.060 --> 00:24:46.100
  • for allowing him to do this.
  • 00:24:46.110 --> 00:24:48.220
  • I fantasized about ending my life to escape the suffering.
  • 00:24:48.230 --> 00:24:52.280
  • During this time, I met a guy who saw me as a person
  • 00:24:52.290 --> 00:24:55.160
  • and made me happy.
  • 00:24:55.170 --> 00:24:57.070
  • Because of him, I finally left my abusive boyfriend.
  • 00:24:57.080 --> 00:25:00.090
  • We started a new life in a new town
  • 00:25:00.100 --> 00:25:02.020
  • and he proposed months later, but still,
  • 00:25:02.030 --> 00:25:05.020
  • inside I felt really hurt.
  • 00:25:05.030 --> 00:25:07.030
  • I struggled because I didn't deserve this life.
  • 00:25:07.040 --> 00:25:09.280
  • When someone was kind to me, it hurt me as much as it healed me.
  • 00:25:09.290 --> 00:25:13.070
  • I felt I made too many mistakes to be loved.
  • 00:25:13.080 --> 00:25:15.250
  • My life had turned around but my spirit was broken.
  • 00:25:15.260 --> 00:25:19.180
  • I was curious about religion
  • 00:25:19.190 --> 00:25:21.140
  • but didn't dare pray or go to church.
  • 00:25:21.150 --> 00:25:23.150
  • What God would want me as his follower?
  • 00:25:23.160 --> 00:25:26.230
  • Then I found "Hour of Power."
  • 00:25:26.240 --> 00:25:29.010
  • Your sermons healed my spirit
  • 00:25:29.020 --> 00:25:30.230
  • and lifted the burden of my past.
  • 00:25:30.240 --> 00:25:32.240
  • I still remember tears of relief running down my cheeks
  • 00:25:32.250 --> 00:25:35.090
  • when you said that every sinner has a future
  • 00:25:35.100 --> 00:25:37.100
  • and every saint has a past and that God does not love us
  • 00:25:37.110 --> 00:25:40.260
  • as we should be but just as we are.
  • 00:25:40.270 --> 00:25:43.100
  • I realized that God always loved me and would forgive me.
  • 00:25:43.110 --> 00:25:46.140
  • It still thrills me that he is so good.
  • 00:25:46.150 --> 00:25:49.080
  • After we married, my first wish I ever prayed for
  • 00:25:49.090 --> 00:25:51.160
  • was fulfilled with the birth of our son Hendrik.
  • 00:25:51.170 --> 00:25:54.230
  • I pray for him every night. He is a precious gift from God.
  • 00:25:54.240 --> 00:25:59.060
  • I no longer feel like a bad person.
  • 00:25:59.070 --> 00:26:01.210
  • I feel beloved and that I'm allowed to experience happiness.
  • 00:26:01.220 --> 00:26:05.100
  • I am so, so grateful.
  • 00:26:05.110 --> 00:26:08.030
  • Thank you.
  • 00:26:08.040 --> 00:26:10.110
  • Hannah: We're not using your name on air
  • 00:26:10.120 --> 00:26:12.040
  • but one highlight of my Holland trip was getting to meet you
  • 00:26:12.050 --> 00:26:14.150
  • and your husband.
  • 00:26:14.160 --> 00:26:16.010
  • You are brave and we are honored to have you as part
  • 00:26:16.020 --> 00:26:19.090
  • of the "Hour of Power" family.
  • 00:26:19.100 --> 00:26:21.120
  • Bobby: That's right. It was a highlight for me too.
  • 00:26:21.130 --> 00:26:23.140
  • And for everybody else that's watching,
  • 00:26:23.150 --> 00:26:24.270
  • this is just one of many stories of people
  • 00:26:24.280 --> 00:26:27.080
  • that are deeply touched because of your generosity.
  • 00:26:27.090 --> 00:26:29.250
  • If people stop giving to this ministry, this goes off the air,
  • 00:26:29.260 --> 00:26:32.140
  • we don't help people anymore.
  • 00:26:32.150 --> 00:26:33.240
  • But because of you, we're changing the world.
  • 00:26:33.250 --> 00:26:35.180
  • Hannah: Yes, thank you for your faithfulness.
  • 00:26:35.190 --> 00:26:37.190
  • And even if you can't give, write to us, be brave.
  • 00:26:37.200 --> 00:26:40.230
