“God wired us. If we do things His way, it’s the right way,” - Pastor Robert Morris
Pastor Robert Morris discusses good stewardship and blessing, topics also found in his book Beyond Blessed, with Matt and Laurie Crouch.
“God wired us. If we do things His way, it’s the right way,” Pastor Morris says.
Pastor Morris also shares examples of people in his own congregation that have taken practical steps towards stewarding God’s resources well—doing things God’s way—and have experienced blessing.
We can also see this in Scripture, in the Parable of the Talents:
“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more …. Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ (Matthew 25:14-16, 19-21; ESV)
Our job is to manage well the resources that God has given us—doing things His way.
“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce;” Proverbs 3:9, ESV
Our motivation: to honor and worship Him. May it be said of us that we are good and faithful servants.
This honor, along with the adventure of discovering what God will entrust for us to manage for Him--watching Him provide blessing in ways that only He can--is the exciting life that we get to live, if we choose to steward well.
