64 A.D.


 This month in 64 A.D., the Great Fire of Rome began. Emperor Nero blamed the Christians to divert attention from himself, resulting in severe persecution of Christians.




This month in 1899, the Christian Commercial Men’s Association of America was formed by three traveling businessmen. Later renamed the Gideons, they placed their first Bibles in a hotel nine years later.




This month in 1956, “In God We Trust” became the official motto of the United States after a unanimous vote, without debate, in both houses of Congress and a signature by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
