Join TBN in Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem
We’re living in a remarkable time. Can you feel it? Right now, as I write these words, it seems we’re all standing on the threshold of something historic and significant.
One of the great privileges and blessings of our call to lead TBN is seeing firsthand how God is moving all over the world. And He is! But nowhere is His activity more apparent right now than in Israel, and in Jerusalem in particular. In recent months we have seen an extraordinary merging of events.
We’ve known for some time that May 14, 2018, will mark the 70th anniversary of Israel’s founding as a nation. What we didn’t know until last December’s White House announcement was that President Trump would follow through on his campaign promise to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s true capital, along with plans to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem sometime in 2019.
The announcement sent shockwaves around the world. The enemies of Israel condemned it in the harshest possible terms. Many Believers and other friends of Israel celebrated the announcement. Then in February, the world was stunned once more when the White House announced that the relocation of the embassy was being moved up to coincide with the 70th anniversary observances in Israel. This was huge and unexpected news!
It is clear to us that God is moving Israel to the forefront of the world’s attention.
Of course, these moves have been criticized and condemned around the world. In many places, anti-Israel sentiment has never been higher. It is clear to us that God is moving Israel to the forefront of the world’s attention. And that key individuals in the U.S. government understand why Israel is special.
The Bible is very clear that the nation of Israel is the Promised Land, an inheritance for the Jewish people given to them by God. In the book of Genesis, God told Abraham, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever” (13:14–15). And in 1948, when the nation-state of Israel was established, we saw God’s faithfulness to His word.
We feel a deep and powerful connection to that amazing city.

We know that as Believers in Jesus, we have a special part to play in supporting Israel and seeing the Jewish people come to know their Messiah. From TBN’s very beginning, my mom and dad, and now Laurie and I, along with all the staff at TBN have encouraged our viewers and partners to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We feel a deep and powerful connection to that amazing city. It’s why we have a permanent studio presence there.
In many parts of the world, even Christians are confused or misinformed about Israel’s special role in God’s plans and purposes.
Not surprisingly, the secular news media in most countries of the world present a consistently negative and biased view of Israel. This makes TBN’s expanding global presence that much more important right now. In many parts of the world, even Christians are confused or misinformed about Israel’s special role in God’s plans and purposes. But because of TBN’s faithful partners and their loving support, we can broadcast the truth across the globe!
Speaking of declaring the truth about Israel, our good friend Jay Sekulow has a timely, brand-new book that makes an overwhelmingly powerful case for why Jerusalem is special to God and the Jewish people’s unique connection to that city and the land. It’s called, appropriately, Jerusalem: A Biblical and Historical Case for the Jewish Capital.
As you may know, Jay is an attorney who argues cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and the World Court at The Hague—so he knows how to present a case. And, wow, is this book powerful! In it he lays out the biblical, historical, archaeological, and legal evidence for the Jewish people’s claim on the land of Israel and their right to view Jerusalem as their eternal capital. That’s why TBN’s new book-publishing division, Trilogy Christian Publishing, is thrilled to be partnering with Jay to bring this important book to the world. And it’s why we’re equally excited to send it to you in thanks for partnering with TBN this month. (See the back page of this newsletter for details.)
We want to have a heavenly perspective as important events continue to unfold in our world, specifically in the Middle East.
There’s a reason why Israel matters to God and why Israel needs to matter to us as the people of God. The more we understand about this topic, both biblically and historically, the better equipped we will be. We want to have a heavenly perspective as important events continue to unfold in our world, specifically in the Middle East. These are exciting times!
